Compare JA (“we”, “us”) operates this website, an independent comparison platform for Jamaican financial products — insurance, credit cards, loans, mortgages, savings accounts, and foreign-exchange rates. For the purposes of the Data Protection Act, 2020(the “DPA”), we are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at hello@comparejamaica.com.
We collect only what the service needs:
Our lawful bases under the DPA are your consent (lead forms, accounts) and our legitimate interestsin operating and securing the platform. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for automated decisions with legal effect. Estimates shown on this site (e.g. “approval likelihood”) are indicative comparisons, not credit decisions.
Some processors store data outside Jamaica. Where they do, we rely on their contractual data-protection commitments as required by the DPA’s transfer provisions.
Lead records are kept while relevant to servicing your request and demonstrating referral activity, then deleted or anonymised. Account data is kept until you delete your account. Aggregate click statistics contain no personal data and are kept indefinitely.
Under the DPA you have the right to:
To exercise any of these, email hello@comparejamaica.com. You may also complain to the Office of the Information Commissioner (Jamaica), the DPA supervisory authority.
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by our database provider. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Access to production systems is restricted and credentialed.
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the effective date above. Material changes affecting how we use lead or account data will be flagged prominently on the site.
